Non-Traditional Doctor of Pharmacy

The Non-Traditional Doctor of Pharmacy (NTDP) program at Howard University is designed for practicing pharmacists seeking to advance their education while maintaining their professional commitments. This innovative program allows students to complete their studies in a flexible, self-paced online format, with a minimum duration of two and a half to three years. The curriculum is structured into three phases, beginning with a three-day orientation followed by 18 months of integrated coursework covering essential pharmacy care and science topics. The final phase includes experiential education, requiring up to 1440 hours of practical rotations in various pharmacy settings. The program emphasizes competency-based learning, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, preparing pharmacists to implement effective pharmacy care in their communities. The last cohort will be accepted in Fall 2024, marking the end of this unique educational opportunity.
